With the Stroke of the Pen
Within hours after his inauguration, Joe Biden signed 17 executive orders. Let's take a look at one of these orders, Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation.
To provide you with all the facts, we will go back to 2019. The U.S House of Representatives passed the Equality Act on May 17, 2017. The bill passed with 236 “yeas” and 173 “nays”. When this bill passed, there were 8 Republicans who voted “yea." Of those 8 Republicans, 5 remain in Congress today. The 5 still serving in the House are Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania, Katko from Pennsylvania, Reed from New York, Stefanik from New York, and Diaz-Balart from Florida. In 2019, the Republicans had control of the Senate, therefore this bill was dead on arrival.
As a mother of a high school daughter, this executive order is very concerning to me. Here's a line from this EO, “Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, the locker room, or school sports.” This executive order is also scaring the kids at my daughter’s school and is “what everyone is talking about.” This executive order allows boys into the girl’s restroom, locker rooms, and allows boys to play on girl’s athletic teams. Therefore, any girl who has been spending hours conditioning, training, and becoming the best at their sport to prepare themselves for a scholarship now must face the real possibility of a boy outperforming her. When a person undergoes a sex change, their DNA does not change. Here's a resource for further information called Save Women's Sports.
What Can We Do?
If you are a concerned parent or grandparent, I ask you to please sign this petition https://savewomenssports.us After signing the petition, you will be emailed information on actions to take, be alerted of any lawsuits, or legislative bills introduced in the House. Terry Schilling runs an organization called American Principles Project. He is the one who is leading the effort on this executive order.
Next, you can reach out to your state Attorney General and ask him/her to sue the Biden administration. Just recently, Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration on an executive order as it relates to immigration. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/texas-ag-ken-paxton-sues-biden-administration-over-temporary-halt-on-deportations/ar-BB1d0wLq?ocid=uxbndlbing
Paxton may also be leading another lawsuit against the Biden administration as it relates to the Equality Act executive order as well.
In addition to your attorney general, please reach out to your state representatives. For our South Carolina subscribers, a bill titled "Save Women's Sports Act" H 3477 has been filed in the House. On 1-12-2021 this bill was referred to the Committee on Judiciary. This bill was introduced by representative Trantham and has 17 co-sponsors. Please ask your representative to co-sponsor this bill and ask that this bill moves forward in the Judiciary Committee.
Lastly, reach out to your U.S. House representative and 2 U.S Senators.
Make your voices heard. Email, make phone calls, comment on social media to our elected officials, as well as write editorials in local newspapers. This is one thing we should all learn from the left. The night President Trump won in 2016, they immediately went into activism. We can NOT sit back and not defend the rights of our children. If we do NOT act, we'll have no one to blame but ourselves.
