H.R.-1 In 2019, we sent an email warning about a bill referred to as “For The People Act of 2019” or H.R.-1. The 1 after HR meant this was the most important bill for the Democrats to get passed. The bill passed in the House on March 8, 2019. Every Democrat voted for the bill and every Republican opposed the bill (234 Yeas and 193 Nays). Because Republicans controlled the Senate, the bill never made it to a Senate vote.
